On the morning of Saturday March 3, the snow in Wiltshire was so deep, that  Skripal’s car got stuck and needed a tow truck to get out, so his friend agreed to pick Yulia Skripal  up in Heathrow airport in London. All busses for the day were canceled.

Miss Skripal was picked up from the airport on Saturday March 3 by Ross Cassidy, one of Col Skripal’s closest friends, who drove her back to her father’s house in Salisbury.

Intelligence officers have suggested that the toxin may have been hidden in her luggage, either impregnated in an item of clothing or cosmetics or else in a gift, meaning Miss Skripal was deliberately targeted to get at her father.

Mr Cassidy confirmed when contacted by The Telegraph that his pick-up truck had been seized at the concrete plant in Amesbury where he works.

March 4, 4:15 p.m. – Emergency services are called by a passer-by concerned about a man and a woman in Salisbury city center. Officers find the Skripals unconscious on a bench. They are taken to Salisbury District Hospital, where they remain in critical condition.

March 5 – Police say two people in Salisbury are being treated for suspected exposure to an unknown substance. The force does not identify them but the BBC reports the man is Sergei Skripal.

An Amber weather warning from the Met Office is in force for the next couple of days, because of the icy blast from Russia and Siberia.

The south west is reeling from heavy snow, freezing rain and dangerous ice which have paralysed roads and public transport.

Wintry weather from Storm Emma on Thursday (March 1) and Friday is expected to continue into Saturday, before gradually easing over the weekend.

A red Met Office weather warning was downgraded on Friday, but a yellow weather warning remains in place on Saturday and there are also flood warnings in place.

The A303 over the Blackdown Hills remained closed late on Friday night and other routes, including the M5 remained difficult to travel on.
